General Description


Sewerage Catchment:

  • Boulder Bay outfall is the discharge point for the Boulder Bay STP which services areas south of Port Stephens, including Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay, Anna Bay, Boat Harbour, Dutchmans Bay, Lemon Tree Passage, Mallabulla, Salamander Bay and Soldiers Point..

Sewage Treatment:  

  • Boulder Bay STP provides secondary treatment with continuous flow extended aeration (CFEA).

Outfall:

  • A temporary shoreline outfall initially commenced discharge into Boulder Bay in 1975. In November 1993, an offshore outfall consisting of an 800 m long tunnel with three 525 mm diameter pipelines and three rose head diffusers with eight ports each located in 16 to 20 m water depth, was commissioned.
